APA Concrete Repairs have been recognised by the industry along with Sika UK for their work on refurbishing Poplar Baths by winning a Structural Concrete Alliance runners up award at the Concrete Society Awards on the 17th November at The Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane, London.
Over 400 guests were in attendance for the 48th year of celebrating excellence in concrete. First and second places were almost too close to call with just one point separating them!
The awards were attended by APA's Southern Area Director, Mr Les Wallis, who said "We are humbled by the industry recognition that we've received and extremely proud to have been part of a significant project that has benefitted the community."
Poplar Baths (East India Dock Road, Poplar)

APA Concrete Repairs have completed extensive cathodic protection, concrete repairs & protective coating works to Poplar Baths, Poplar, London.
The baths were constructed in 1933 and were opened as public baths, in 1988 the baths were closed and had fallen into a state of disrepair. In 2001 the baths became a listed building and in 2010 campaigners were successful in achieving a decision to put the baths back into use. APA were employed to design & install impressed current cathodic protection to protect the structural steel frame supporting the front & rear sections of the building. The middle section of the building consisted of a unique arrangement of curved reinforced concrete columns which formed a series of arches. APA installed galvanic anodes, completed concrete repairs and applied protective coatings to this section. APA also applied conservation renders to the external facade of the building.
Pinewood Studios (Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire)

An intense programme of protective coatings has just been completed by APA at Pinewood Studios.
Host to a plethora of world famous films such as the recent blockbuster, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Pinewood Studios has been undergoing large scale construction works. APA were successful in procuring the protective coatings package as part of the Pinewood development Framework. The works were completed during a tight programme utilising multiple mobile working platforms to the satisfaction of the client.

Weymouth Pleasure Pier (Weymouth, Dorset)

APA Have Completed Essential Structural Repairs to Weymouth Pleasure Pier.
The pleasure pier at Weymouth is thought to have existed as early as 1812 and was rebuilt in reinforced concrete in the 1930s. APA undertook essential concrete repairs to the supporting structure for Weymouth & Portland Borough Council earlier this year.

High Praise for Godley Bridge Works (Halifax, West Yorkshire)

APA have received high praise from admirers of the improvement works they completed to Godley Bridge in Halifax
APA were successful in winning the Principal Contract for the 2012 Repainting and improvement works to Godley Bridge, which was originally constructed in 1899.
The bridge joins both sides of Godley Cutting and spans the busy A58, which is the main approach to Halifax from the East.
The works have since been nominated for an award from the Painting Decorating Association and have received very positive comments in the local press from members of the public.
